A Tas-Tee Players Champion in Rory McIlroy at TPC Sawgrass

The Players Championship in March?!?

While our accommodations were a little different, the familiar setting of Pete Dye's gem at TPC Sawgrass hosted another epic finish after moving from May.  The course was just as stunning as what we witnessed last May and although the winds were a bit unpredictable the first couple practice rounds, the cream rose to the top for the Sunday finish.

Our Tas-Tee Team spent the majority of the tournament rekindling relationships with the great folks of Ponte Vedra. Like last week's Arnold Palmer Invitational, the crowds at TPC were enthusiastic and exuberant, maybe even too much for a certain Englishman's liking.  The English Chest Thumper tweeted his distaste for the crowd's remarks as he played but we heard little in the way of harassment or heckling once his group went by.  We loved the Ryder Cup undertones once the leaderboard filled with foreigners and that energy really added to the drama on Sunday afternoon.

Whether it was Rahm's "discussion" with his caddie or Tommy and DJ's inability to make a meaningful putt when it mattered most, Rory was steady after his early double bogey and after the incredible bunker shot at 15, he walked up to the 16th looking like the Players Champion he was destined to be.  Like the greats when they are dialed in (see Steph Curry or Adam Vinatieri), when Rory starts that stripe show, it is one of the best things in sports, period.
