On my second attempt at playing Best Man, this time for one my best college buddies from East Texas. He lives in a golf community (Emerald Bay) and plays with regularly w a group on the weekends so golf was an easy activity to be the focal point of his final guys trip as bachelor.
We started w a list of 8-10 feasible Stay & Play golf locations in Texas, and one in Oklahoma but we ended up selecting The Links at Land's End on Lake Fork, near Yantis, Texas. The property had wildlife in abundance throughout, we even saw a few Bald Eagles. It had a challenging course setup w rolling fairways, tough to hit greens and water, water everywhere lol. It was in great playing shape and we all really enjoyed the atmosphere. Our group of 8 guys played a round of golf Saturday afternoon and one Sunday morning before heading home.
Huy ("Whee") Nguyen is the pro at The Links at Land's End and he seemed to have everything running fantastically. Tee sheet was full most of the weekend but he could be seen giving lessons and helping in the pro shop on several occasions. He even had the kitchen make us 8 HUGE breakfast burritos for our round the next morning. (so we had that goin for us, which is nice)
No comments were recorded from the Sunday morning round, lol, but we got through it w a Shamble (Choosing one tee shot but playing your own ball after). It really was the perfect setting for our east Texas crew. We will be back.
